Light Weight Linux Server

A light weight linux server for running web based apps on your internal network. When you are using web based apps which do not need to be publicly accessible you can limit the availability of your web based applications to your local network by hosting your own server.

This can sound daunting and expensive, but it doesn't have to be. This Intel NUC can be set up and provisioned very quickly, and can run headless (that is without a monitor and keyboard) and located just about anywhere. All it needs is an Ethernet connection to your local network and a power point. Our recommendation would be to locate it next to your switch.

Prices vary based on what performance you need, but for most small to medium sized office environments, looking to run web based apps on the server, will find that the performance of the base model NUC's will be more than adequate.

To create your NUC you'll need the NUC itself (of course!), a hard drive for the operating system, and some RAM.

For web hosting a Celeron NUC will be fine, and is the cheapest NUC option available. The hard drive should be a solid state drive (SSD) to avoid moving parts, and 4GB of DDR3 RAM is more than enough.

Then after a linux operating system has been installed and configured you are ready to go!
